Easter Biscuits

Good morning

Have you had a nice Easter weekend? Did you eat any Easter eggs?  Did you go to any Easter church services?  Did you have lots of family coming to lunch?

We have had fun cooking some tasty treats, and here is one of the nicest things.  Easter biscuits... or any time biscuits if you are my mum because they are her favourite sort. We are wondering if teaching us to make them is just a plan for her to get more?    (Thanks boys - mum x)

Ingredients (What they are made of)

120g Butter
80g sugar
1 egg
200g plain flour
1/2 tsp mixed spice
1 tsp cinnamon
About 50g raisins
A little bit of milk, about 2 tablespoons worth

Put the oven on to Gas 6 or 200'c and grease two baking sheets

Method (How we make them)

1)  Chop up the butter in to small squares or lumps

2)  Put into a mixing bowl and add the sugar, beat together
until smooth. This might take a while

3) Separate the egg, that means crack it, put yolk in one bowl
and the white in another. Add the yoke to the butter/sugar
    and mix well.

4)  Add the flour,  mixed spice and cinnamon, it smells lovely,
but don't sniff too hard you don't want it up you nose!

5)  Add  raisins and mix together.

6)  Put the milk in, one spoon full at a time, you might not need it
all.  It will help to stick all of your ingredients together to make
     a dough.

7)  Put some flour on your work surface, some onto your rolling pin
and start rolling out your dough. It needs to be about 1cm thick.

8)  We cut ours into bunny shapes and circles

9)  Put them on to the baking tray. Next mix up the egg white (from
your separated eggs, use a pastry brush to put some on the top
of your biscuits, then sprinkle on a little sugar.

10)  Put them into the oven for about 10 minutes, then put onto a cooling rack.

We hope you will try this recipe, it is very tasty. You don't have to add raisins, you could add chopped dried cherries, or have them plain if you like.

please let us know if you like what we are doing

  1. Hello These sound like the ones I made as easter presents for my aunt who can't eat chocolate. They were lovely! Mum made some more for us to eat too.

  2. Hi Sam, thank you for writing to us :0) shame that your aunt can't eat chocolate!! We have to make different things for Mattie sometimes because he can't have dairy or wheat. Have you tried making our rocket rockets yet?
