Rocket rockets, come on, join in

Hello

We hope you enjoyed our first blog page?

This page is all about making Rocket rockets. Basically rocket shaped plant pots with rocket seeds inside. Are you confused? Here is what we mean...

We thought it would be cool to have a challenge with each other and with all of you too if you would like to join in... pleeeeeaaassseeee !?

What you will need  (Kind of like the ingredients)

A plastic cup, yoghurt pot, empty margarine tub, or something like that
Pens and decorations
Some compost
A packet of rocket seeds

Rocket - it is a type of lettuce that is nice and tasty, Jacob says it tastes a bit spicy, Mum says thats because it is peppery, and says that you could grow lambs lettuce instead if you like. What has it got to do with Lambs?

What to do next

1)  You need to put holes (little ones) in the bottom of your cup/pot, get someone to help you. Mum stabbed ours with a skewer. The holes let water escape if you put too much on.

2)  Decorate the outside to look like a rocket

This last picture is Joel's rocket which he kept on throwing in the air, even when it had compost in it!

3)  Fill the pot nearly to the top with compost, press it down a bit and then pour some water on
it, Mattie says "Not too much or the soil will float away!"

4)  Add some seeds, one packet made 6 rockets at our house

5)  Sprinkle on a little more compost

6)  Put on a window sill and wait, not like sit and wait, but leave it for a while. Water if the compost gets dry and soon there will be rocket growing.

You put them on the window sill beacause it is nice and warm when the sun shines through the glass, and also nice and light so the seeds are happiest there

We are going to wait until the end of April and then see whose is the best, wonder if it will grow fast enough for that? Mum thinks it will.

So, are you going to join in? I t would be great, and you get to eat t at the end... not the pot, that would be chewy,  but the rocket from the rocket

Bye Bye

From

Ethan, Reuben, Mattie, Jacob and Joel
